How will library budget cuts impact you?

Skip here to read the Budget FAQ.

National Library Week is an annual celebration of the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians. Here at the Jacksonville Public Library, we have a lot to celebrate. Jacksonville residents really love their library and we do, too.

However, the library is facing serious and devastating cuts to its operating budget.  The Board of Library Trustees recently submitted a budget to the mayor reflecting a $6 million reduction requested by the administration. It will mean closing one branch and reducing hours at the remaining libraries, closing all locations on Sundays and Mondays, eliminating more than 100 positions, and reducing the amount of new materials we’ll be able to put on the shelves.

We’ve compiled a Budget FAQ to help you learn more about the potential impact of budget cuts in Jacksonville’s libraries. Read the Budget FAQ here or download the .pdf.
