Wednesday, Nov. 19, 7:30 p.m. – Ritz Chamber Players Brahms Sonic Splendor In a proud partnership with the Jacksonville Public Library and in a continuing effort to bring more concerts to the community, the Ritz Chamber Players commence their 13th season at the Main Library. Their opening concert will feature the Brahms Piano Trio in B major, Op. 8, Brahms’ first major work to be heard in America. Often delineated as “autumnal” by critics and musicologists, the Trio is melancholy and introspective, its expansive melodies rendered even more comely by an underlying sense of emotional anguish. Given the conditions under which this piece was composed, the sense of unrest is all the more poignant. The concert is free, however reservations are required. Please look for more Ritz Chamber concerts at the library.
All concerts are in the Hicks Auditorium at the Main Library. For more information about Music @ Main concerts, please visit http://jplmusic.blogspot.com. Free evening and weekend parking is available in the public garage at Duval and Main. Bring your ticket into the library for validation.
