Saturday, Feb. 14, 3 p.m., Main Library, The Lounge @ 303 North
Author Brooke Stephens will discuss her latest work, Men We Cherish, which features stories from 30 African-American women as they celebrate everyday heroes—fathers and grandfathers, brothers and best friends, sons and husbands. These essays, memoirs, and love letters offer moving portraits of the three-out-of-four black men who never make the headlines.
The men in the lives of established black women writers, including Bebe Moore Campbell, Gloria Wade-Gayles, Charlayne Hunter-Gault, and the Delany sisters, reflect the diversity, honesty, generosity and depth that is the reality of African-American men.
This PRIDE Book Club author appearance is free and open to the public. A limited number of books will be available for cash purchase only. Brooke Stephens has written several books including Talking Dollars and Making Sense and Wealth Happens One Day at a Time.
