Multiple Dates, Main Library

JPL is hosting an exciting lineup of musical talent ranging from piano students from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts to players from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and The Daniel Bennett Group, jazz artists on tour from New York City. With five concerts this month, you can take your pick or catch them all.
Tuesday, March 3 @ 7 p.m. (Hicks Auditorium)
Emergence, with Piano Students from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts
Under the guidance of faculty coordinator Vera Watson, talented young pianists will perform favorite selections by Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy, among others.

Wednesday, March 4 @ 6 p.m. (The Lounge at 303 North)
Promenade! with Jacksonville Symphony Players
Stroll in and enjoy J-Sym instrumentalists performing chamber music against the backdrop of Downtown Jacksonville’s First Wednesday Art Walk.
Sunday, March 8 @ 3 p.m. (Hicks Auditorium)
Intermezzo, with Marguerite Richardson, violin & Scott Watkins, piano
Representing both Jacksonville University and the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, the wife-husband duo will play sonatas by Beethoven (No. 4) and Brahms (No.1), as well as Dvořák’s Sonatina, op. 100.
Wednesday, March 11 @ 12:30 p.m. (The Lounge at 303 North)
Out to Lunch, Brown-bag Jazz with The Daniel Bennett Group
On tour from New York City and featured on NPR, The Daniel Bennett Group has shared recent concert billings with artists like Bill Frisell, Charlie Hunter, Greg Osby and James Carter. Attendees are invited to bring a lunch while listening to what the Boston Globe describes as “a mix of jazz, folk, and trance.”

Tuesday Serenade, with Jorge Peña, viola & Bonita Sonsini Wyke, piano
Honduran-born violist Jorge Peña is a member of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra and Founder and Artistic Director of the annual St. Augustine Music Festival. Joining Mr. Peña will be Bonita Sonsini Wyke, whose reputation of unsurpassed skill and artistry has been earned both as collaborative pianist with the First Coast’s finest instrumentalists and vocalists, and as music director for a variety of opera, musical theater and ballet productions.
Music @ Main concerts are free and open to the public; reservations are not required. Free parking is available on weekends and evenings (entering after 5 p.m.) in the public garage at Duval and Main. Bring your ticket into the Library for validation.
