Two community meetings were held in July at the Beaches Branch Library to update residents about the ongoing construction project, which includes the installation of new windows, at the library. Councilmen Bill Gulliford and John Crescimbeni attended the meetings.
Director of Public Works for the City of Jacksonville, Jim Robinson, gave updates and answered questions. After issues with the original contractor, which caused delays to the schedule, a new contractor, the Warden Group, has been hired to resume work at the branch in August. Repairs are expected to be completed by the end of January 2016, under the management of Jacksonville’s Chief of Public Buildings, Luis Flores.
Robinson said he would be happy to provide status reports of the project in person at the library as often as the community wished. The Beaches Branch Library remains open as usual while repairs are underway.
