Willowbranch Library Comic Con – May 7

Willowbranch Comic Con Logo 2016Willowbranch Library is getting in on the JPL Comic Con action.  On Saturday, May 7 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., fans of all ages will be thoroughly entertained by all things comic.  From costume contests, scavenger hunts, and comic artists to board games and crafts, there will be fandom fun for everyone.

The schedule of events so far includes:

  • 11 a.m. – noon – Natalie McGriff, aka Moxie McGriff, will be there with her latest Moxie McGriff adventure, Moxie McGriff Saves the Library. Natalie, who is 8 years old, and her mom, Angie, co-wrote the Moxie McGriff series to help girls gain self confidence. Their first book was a 2015 One Spark winner.moxie-book-cover2-500x679
  • 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Cosplay Workshop
  • 2 – 3 p.m. – Costume Contest.  Get into the spirit of the event and come dressed to impress.  For all ages. Please keep in mind this is a family friendly event.

All day events include:

  • Green screen photo booth
    • Capture the day’s memories with unique backdrops such as this one.

  • Free 3-D key chains while supplies last!
    • The key chains were designed and created by the library’s e-services team using a 3-D printer.
    • ComicCon Keychain white

Learn all there is to know about being a graphic novel artist and author from the several artists who will be in attendance to answer questions.

  • Kyle Willis  moved to Jacksonville four years ago from South Florida. He is a self taught multi-media artist with zero formal art education. He is constantly inspired by geek culture and dabbles in digital media and logo design. However, he heart is deeply rooted in portraiture. Kyle also sell prints, original paintings and illustrations as well as puzzles and other oddities.

  • Other artists and authors include Jade Woodruff, Jason Wright and RJ Jojola

On the other side of town, the 4th Annual Beaches Library Comic Con will be happening at the same time.  Put both events on your calendar!
