Each month we feature a series of books chosen by our fabulous staff. Once a week our literary mavens will be featured on our social media channels. At the end of every month we compile them for you right here; that way you won’t miss a single book! These choices are some of their favorite books and authors, or reads they need to share with others.
Gail, from the Beaches branch, recommends the audio book of “The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry” by Gabrielle Zevin for our #JPLPicks this week. “I enjoyed following the life of this lonely bookstore owner who receives a surprise package – a small child!” said Gail. “The child changed his whole life by allowing him to see the world in a different way. It was quite a touching story.”
Our #JPLPicks for #NationalLibraryWeek comes from Kim at UPK who recommends Marking Good Habits by Joyce Meyer. “The stuff we do becomes us.” says Kim. “I want to reevaluate my habits and turn a negative habit into a positive one.” Make it a habit to visit the library more often!
Our #JPLPicks for this week comes from Chaka at UPK. He recommends American Gods by Neil Gaiman, “This is a funny and dark story about America’s fascination with religion.” If you read it and loved it check out the new series on STARZ!
This week Danielle from PCR recommends “Persuasion” by Jane Austen for our #JPLPicks. “You can’t go wrong with Jane Austen, but too many people get hung up on “Pride and Prejudice.” “Persuasion” is where it’s at! It has humor and melancholy with a great ending.”
