We’re ready for the literary event of the year, are you? Saturday, March 3 the Main Library will host Jacksonville’s largest book festival from 10:00 A.M. to 3 P.M.
We want you to be prepared for a full day of literary adventures, here are some tips for getting the most out of your day!
Parking: Parking is always free downtown on the weekends! Cruise on over and snag some complementary on-street parking. Don’t fret if you can’t find a spot right in front, take a stroll and check out the murals and local businesses of downtown Jax! The library also validates parking for the parking garage on Duval Street. Just bring your parking stub to the checkout desk on the ground floor.
Schedule of Events: With over 100 local authors and several speakers like Kimberla Lawson Roby, Nicola Yoon, Brenda Jackson, Laura Lee Smith and more there’s an author for every taste. Yes, even your teen will be impressed! We will be unveiling our Local Author Collection that day, writers will discuss their craft while answering your burning questions and there will be events for kids too, so bring the whole family!
Books and More: The fabulous San Marco Bookstore will be on hand in the 303 Lounge. You will be able to purchase the latest book from your new favorite author or nab an old favorite to get signed! Purchase official Jax Book Fest T-shirts and posters too. SMB will also have literary-inspired items (Hello, Poe-lka dot socks!) that no self-respecting book nerd will want to deny themselves!
Dining Options: This is an all-day event, so we expect that you’ll need something to fuel your stomach while you fuel your mind! We’ll have two local food trucks, Blazin Azn and Manny’s Cuban out in Hemming Park just for you and there are lots of amazing area restaurants like Burrito Gallery, Kazu Sushi Burrito, Candy Apple (and Sweet Petes!) and more! There’s something for everyone, so take a breather and grab some nosh before you head back in for even more literary fun!
We’re pretty stoked for the second Jax Book Fest, as are all events hosted by the Jax Library, this event is free and open to the public. See you Saturday, March 3rd!
A big thanks to all our Jax Book Fest Sponsors!
