All completed applications (applications include the registration forms and release forms signed by a parent or guardian when applicable) must be received no later than Friday, Sept. 9, 2016.

Only band applications with completed signed Voice/Image and Guardian Forms (if applicable) will be considered. Every band member must print and submit this form with proper signatures.

Performers must submit a one-song YouTube video for the online voting portion. Original works are encouraged.

Lyrics cannot include profanity, derogatory remarks, sexually explicit content or violence.

Videos can be uploaded to YouTube. Please use the following format for the title of the video entry: Band Name – Song Title, #TeenBOTB

Include the link to your YouTube video on the registration form on the JPL blog at ilovejpl.org/teenbotb. You can change the privacy setting of the video to “Unlisted,” so it can only be viewed with the direct link.

Public Online Voting: Monday, Sept. 12 – Friday, Sept. 23, 2016

Each entry will be scored based on the number of public online votes received (40% of the total score) and the points given by the panel of judges (60% of the total score). The five (5) bands that receive the highest scores will be notified on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 and invited to compete at the Teen Battle of the Bands on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Hemming Park.

Previous Grand Prize Winning bands are not eligible to enter.

MANDATORY Band Pre-Event Meeting on Thursday, Sept.  29, 2016 @ 4 P.M. OR Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 @ 2 PM.  Please expect meeting to last 2 HOURS. At minimum one band member, band parent, or legal agent must attend this meeting. It is preferred that ALL BAND MEMBERS attend.  Performance lineup will be drawn via straws/number method at this meeting. Equipment and On-Stage Rules:

Bands will supply their own instruments and gear. Jacksonville Public Library will provide microphones, drum set, and sound equipment. Bands are responsible for any damage done to equipment provided by the library.

Equipment must be delivered to Hemming Park Stage the morning of the event only. The public library and library staff will not be responsible for any band equipment lost, stolen or damaged.

All band members will check-in by 9 A.M. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, for sound check and rehearsal. Any group/band members arriving late potentially will forfeit performance opportunity.

Set up and take down of band equipment is the responsibility of each performing band.

Each band will have approximately 15 minutes to set up, perform, and disband. Any band that goes over the allotted time will have points deducted.

The removal of clothing or the use of obscene language or gestures are prohibited and will result in the band being disqualified and will be escorted out of competition and the library by security.

A panel of judges will evaluate bands based on vocal performance, instrumental performance, professionalism, originality, and stage presence based on a scale of 1 – 10. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded to the bands with the three highest total scores, and judges’ decisions are final.

An award for FAN FAVORITE will also be awarded based on the number of public votes received on Saturday, Nov. 19, using the online voting site.

Library staff reserve the right to end a performance prematurely or remove a band from the lineup if the band doesn’t fully comply with all rules as outlined above.
