Support Us

What makes a good library great? Private support.

Enhanced programs, services, collections, and more are possible through the generous donations and support of the Jacksonville community. Private gifts through corporate sponsors, individual members of the Golden Book Society, or other support make the JPL a great resource for the community – open to all.

Donate. Donate to the Jacksonville Public Library Foundation. The Foundation was created in 1986 to support the JPL with enhanced resources. Your gifts to the Foundation provide the funding necessary for the advancement of essential JPL programs that enhance the quality of life for our community – like Summer Learning, Adult Education, Technology Resources, Library Collections, and others.

All donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible. The Foundation is a private non-profit 501(c)3 whose mission is to strengthen the ability of the JPL to serve as an educational and cultural resource for our community, and promote the use of library resources, enthusiasm for reading, and increased literacy for all Jacksonville residents.

Advocate. Ask local leaders and state lawmakers to continue local funding and to continue State Aid to Libraries. Without it, Duval County would lose more than $1 million in both state and federal aid. Our literacy programs, funds to purchase books, materials, furniture, and equipment would all be greatly reduced. Speak your mind and advocate for your public library.

  1. I want to express my appreciation for the Children’s LIbrary Staff at Main. My son regularly attends the Thursday afternoon Art Club and Dramarama. These programs are the highlights of his week. Because attending these programs is contingent on his behavior at school during the week he constantly strives to “stay on A” and always completes his homework. We both look forward to Thursday afternoons. I believe these programs are a valuable asset to our community and fervently hope that is recognized by the powers that be. Thanks again!

  2. I agree with the hours cut. The wave of the future is online which can run effectively during the 5 day work week. Thanks or keping the library effective for us citizens.

  3. We love the library! We frequent the Beaches branch and Pablo Creek. Everyone is so nice and helpful and at the Beaches they have watched my children grow from toddlers to pre teens. The whole family enjoys checking out books and DVD’s. So sad it has come to cutting library services! We appreciate what has always been available to us and the helpfulness of the staff at both branches. Thank you and hang in there!

  4. I and my family members love the JPL and visit regularly to beach Blvd Branch. We wish more hours for library not less.

  5. Well, it is not about me and what I want. What is really scary and tragic is this town is more in tune to football, etc. and meanwhile the culture and education of the next generations are put in this ridiculous position. WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ????

    1. Go to for the latest on the petition drive. We’re not directly involved in it, but I do know volunteers are often outside of various libraries and other public buildings. Thanks for your interest and support!

    1. Thank you for the feedback, Charis. We’ll share it with the committees organizing the event. We hope you’ll still consider attending this year and let us know how it works for you otherwise. Have a great day!
